A fire that broke out in a house in Pendik, Istanbul, turned into a tragedy during the night. Three children trapped in the flames lost their lives, and new images from the scene have emerged.
The fire that started in an apartment in Pendik quickly grew and engulfed the entire house. Despite all efforts, the three children trapped inside could not be saved due to the flames.
THREE CHILDREN DIED IN HOSPITAL
The children taken to the hospital, Cennet Çelikkol (2016), Zülfikar Sepetci (2020), and Özden Sepetci (2023), could not be saved despite all interventions.
Mohammed Ali Çelikkol, born in 2014, was placed under treatment in the intensive care unit, and his condition remains serious.
MOTHER WAS AT THE HOSPITAL AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT
Initial investigations after the incident revealed that the children's mother, Selvi Sepetci, had taken her other child, Ela Nur Zurnacı, born in 2025, to Kartal Education and Research Hospital for treatment and was not at home during the fire.
CITIZENS' STRUGGLE TO SAVE THE CHILD RECORDED ON CAMERA
The footage that emerged after the incident revealed the extent of the tragedy. In the video, health teams can be seen making intense efforts to revive a small child who was rescued from the smoke-filled house with the help of neighbors. The medical personnel performed CPR on the child who could not breathe for a long time. However, despite all interventions, the small child could not be saved. The footage was watched with great sadness by those present at the scene.
INVESTIGATION INITIATED
The police and fire department teams have launched a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the fire. Initial findings indicate that the fire started inside the house, while the exact cause will be clarified after technical analyses are conducted.
While the family's relatives are in a state of shock, a great sadness has settled in the neighborhood.
