Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that new penalties will be imposed on those who weave in and out of traffic. Minister Yerlikaya stated, "As the Ministry of Interior, we are finalizing our legislative work aimed at preventing this violation and the accidents it causes; this includes increasing administrative penalties, revoking driver's licenses, and banning vehicles from traffic."

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on his official social media account that a total of 12,919 drivers and vehicles were penalized for the violation of "cutting in and out," which refers to dangerously changing lanes multiple times in succession, between January 1 and February 14.

NEW PENALTIES FOR CUTTING IN AND OUT IN TRAFFIC

Minister Yerlikaya stated in his announcement that new penalties for cutting in and out in traffic will be introduced. Yerlikaya said, "As the Ministry of Interior, we are finalizing our legislative work aimed at increasing administrative penalties, revoking driving licenses, and banning vehicles from traffic to prevent this violation and the accidents it causes." Yerlikaya warned that cutting in and out in traffic not only endangers your own life but also the lives of other drivers.

462 THOUSAND DRIVERS AND VEHICLES PENALIZED IN A WEEK

Yerlikaya reported that between February 6 and 13, a total of 2,948,764 vehicles were inspected by the Traffic teams of the Police and Gendarmerie. Providing details, Yerlikaya stated, "42 drivers were penalized for using devices (flashing lights) that are not permitted by law on vehicles. Additionally, 119,400 for speeding, 21,955 for not having periodic inspections, 23,341 for not wearing seat belts, 11,477 for driving without a license, and 6,660 for not having mandatory financial liability insurance, bringing the total to 462,352 vehicles/drivers penalized." Yerlikaya emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules, stating, "Journeys are meant to bring you together with your loved ones, not to separate you."
