BBP General Chairman Mustafa Destici, who drew attention by saying, "You will not hire those who are not married," has made a new statement. Destici stated, "Our announcement is made to increase the awareness of our youth and children regarding one of the biggest threats to our precious country, which is the population problem. We propose to exempt married couples from ÖTV on their first car purchase, as well as from KDV and MTV for two years."
Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici made a striking statement at the Ordinary Provincial Congress of his party held at the Atatürk Cultural Center in the central Artuklu district of Mardin. Stating that marriage should be encouraged in Turkey, Destici said, "I will say something very radical. Priority should be given to those who are married when hiring. You will not hire those who are not married. Because this nation is ours, and we need to sustain this nation. Population is the greatest wealth of a nation."
"YOU WILL NOT HIRE THOSE WHO ARE NOT MARRIED," SAYS DESTICI IN A NEW STATEMENT
Following his radical statement, a new explanation came from Destici. In a statement he made on his social media account, Destici said: "I understand the reactions of our youth, accepting their criticisms, and we act and do politics with the hope of a more livable Turkey for them. Because we see politics not as a job, but as a duty to our nation to which we belong."
"I MADE THE STATEMENT TO DRAW ATTENTION TO THE THREAT OF POPULATION PROBLEM"
Politics should be seen as a tool for the development and progress of the society we live in and should be done for this purpose. Our statement was made to increase the sensitivity of our youth and our children against one of the greatest threats to our precious country, which is the population problem. The Great Unity Party's perspective on family, and thus marriage, has been within the framework of the values that our nation and beliefs have brought us over thousands of years.
"MARRIAGE INSTITUTION SHOULD BE SUPPORTED"
We believe that the marriage institution, which faces many new challenges in today's economic and social conditions, and especially families with children, should be supported. In this context and for the purposes we mentioned, marriage assistance should be increased at least twofold, and all necessary marriage expenses for those who cannot afford it should be covered by the state, and priority should be given in employment.
Additionally, we propose that newly married couples be exempt from ÖTV on their first car purchase, as well as from VAT and MTV for two years. We will also share our comprehensive proposal package prepared by our party regarding this issue with the public and our youth as soon as possible."
