Just two days after the train disaster in Spain that claimed the lives of at least 42 people, two more train accidents occurred. In one accident, it was reported that the train, while in motion, collided with a retaining wall that had fallen onto the tracks, resulting in the death of the engineer and injuries to 20 people. In the second train accident that occurred on the same day, it was learned that the train hit a rock, and fortunately, the 10 people on board were not injured.
Only 2 days after the train accident that occurred on January 18 in the Andalusia region of southern Spain, which resulted in the deaths of 42 people, two more separate train accidents occurred in the country.
IN THE FIRST ACCIDENT, THE DRIVER DIED, 20 PEOPLE WERE INJURED
In a statement made to the press by the Civil Protection agency of the Catalonia autonomous government, it was reported that a train traveling on the number 4 suburban line in Barcelona collided with a retaining wall that had fallen onto the tracks between Gelida and Sant Sadurni d'Anoia, resulting in the death of the driver and injuries to 20 people.
It was shared that 28 calls related to the incident were received by the 112 Emergency Call Center. Some officials from the Catalonia autonomous government announced that ambulances and firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
SECOND TRAIN ACCIDENT ON THE SAME DAY
Meanwhile, authorities announced that there were heavy rains across Catalonia and that a second train accident occurred during the day.
NO INJURIES BY CHANCE
It was recorded that another train on the number 1 suburban line in Barcelona hit a rock that had fallen onto the tracks between Maçanet Massanes and Tordera, but there were no injuries among the 10 people on board.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In the accident involving two high-speed trains that occurred on the evening of January 18 near the town of Adamuz in the city of Córdoba in the Andalusia region of southern Spain, 42 people lost their lives, and many others were injured.
A 3-day national mourning was declared due to the train accident.
Of the injured, 39 are being treated in the hospital, including 13 in intensive care.
