Rector of Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Şengönül, stated regarding the increasing cases of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) in the city, 'Ticks should not be blamed on Sivas. Sivas Cumhuriyet University is a place that provides healing in this regard.' Chief Physician of Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Prof. Dr. Tamer Doğan, announced that out of 129 suspected and confirmed CCHF cases admitted to the hospital this season, 10 have died and 13 patients are still undergoing treatment.
Sivas Cumhuriyet University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Şengönül came together with members of the press working in the city at a breakfast program. During the meeting, Şengönül answered questions from the press and made statements regarding the recent increase in Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) cases.

Drawing attention to the significant experience of Sivas Cumhuriyet University Hospital in treating CCHF, Şengönül said, "Ticks should not be blamed on Sivas. Sivas Cumhuriyet University is a place of healing in this regard. We have a very successful rate in treating patients. Our university is not the source of the disease."
110 PEOPLE DISCHARGED
Sivas Cumhuriyet University Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Tamer Doğan stated that 129 suspected and confirmed CCHF cases have applied to the hospital this season. Doğan reported that 10 of these cases died, while approximately 110 patients were discharged after completing their treatment.
"NUMBERS SIMILAR TO LAST YEAR"
Stating that 13 patients are still receiving treatment at the hospital, Tamer Doğan said that 2 patients are in critical condition and being monitored in intensive care, expressing the following:
"129 Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever cases arrived. We lost 10 of these patients. We discharged approximately 110 of the remaining cases. Currently, 13 cases are continuing treatment. 2 patients are in intensive care and their condition is critical. These numbers are at similar rates to last year's data. As an experienced hospital, we can provide very good support for cases that apply early."
