The foreign ministers of China and Russia held a phone conversation to discuss the recent developments in the Middle East. China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, shared details of the meeting on the social media platform X.

MESSAGE OF “OBJECTIVE AND BALANCED APPROACH”

According to Fu Cong, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized during his conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov that the two countries, as permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, should "exhibit a fair attitude while distinguishing right from wrong" and approach the process objectively and balanced.

EMPHASIS ON CEASEFIRE

During the meeting, the parties agreed that a ceasefire is the "fundamental solution" for reducing tensions in the Middle East. The two ministers stated that stopping the conflicts is critical for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
