U.S. President Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House for the first time since taking office, and the meeting was marked by a dispute between the two. Following the argument, billionaire businessman Elon Musk, who was appointed to head the Office of Government Efficiency after Trump took the presidential seat, shared a post stating, "President Donald Trump is the Commander-in-Chief."
After the tense meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the planned joint press conference was canceled, and the rare earth elements agreement that was announced to be signed today was also not signed.
President Trump, in a statement made on his Truth Social account after the heated discussion in the Oval Office, argued that Zelensky is not yet ready for peace. In his statement, Trump said, "We had a very meaningful meeting at the White House today. Many things were learned that can never be understood without speaking under such pressure. I determined that President Zelensky is not ready for peace if the United States is involved. He disrespected the valuable Oval Office of the United States. He can come back when he is ready for peace."
THE AGREEMENT WILL NOT BE SIGNED
Following Trump's statement, White House officials also confirmed that the joint press conference was canceled and, therefore, the rare earth elements agreement expected to be signed today would not be signed. After the cancellation of the discussion and the press conference, Zelensky left the White House.
ONE-SENTENCE SUPPORT FROM ELON MUSK TO TRUMP
After the discussion, support came from billionaire businessman Elon Musk, who was appointed to head the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) after Trump took office. Musk, in a one-sentence post on his social media account, said, "President Donald Trump is the commander-in-chief."
