Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 34 suspects who published fake advertisements on social media, operated gambling through online applications, and committed fraud under the guise of investment consultancy were apprehended by the gendarmerie. 225 MILLION LIRA SEIZED
Yerlikaya stated that assets worth 225 million lira were seized during the operation, emphasizing that 14 of the suspects were arrested, judicial control measures were applied to 13, and the procedures for the others were ongoing.
Minister Yerlikaya pointed out that operations were carried out in Ankara, Adana, Muğla, and Edirne, as well as in Mersin, Niğde, Gaziantep, Kocaeli, Bursa, Istanbul, Batman, Manisa, Izmir, Şanlıurfa, Kayseri, Diyarbakır, and Denizli as part of the fight against cybercrime, sharing the following information:
"It has been determined that the suspects defrauded our citizens by posting fake 'motorcycle' advertisements on social media platforms, facilitated gambling by installing gambling game applications through internet-connected operating systems, and defrauded our citizens by posting advertisements for 'investment consultancy and agricultural loans' on websites. Investigations have been initiated by our prosecutors against the suspects. Based on MASAK reports, approximately 225 million lira worth of assets, including 30 residential properties, 6 vehicles, and 40 bank accounts belonging to the suspects, have been seized."
Congratulating the governors, chief public prosecutors, the Cyber Crime Department, provincial gendarmerie commanders, and gendarmerie and MASAK personnel who carried out the operations, Yerlikaya stated, "We do not allow those who try to disturb the peace of our citizens in digital environments, just as we do not allow them on the streets."
