THEIR CODE NAME IS "M3"
In the investigation, it was determined that the organization led by F.M., code-named 'M3', adapted the engine and chassis numbers of vehicles brought from abroad to those belonging to citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake or whose vehicles were damaged, as well as vehicles that were rendered unusable due to accidents or fires, using special methods to perform a "Change". It was also found that fake compliance documents were issued for these vehicles under the name 'project vehicles'.
50 VEHICLES WERE CHANGED
Investigations revealed that the organization committed the crime of qualified fraud by selling the vehicles that were "Changed" as if they were original to citizens. It was recorded that the organization had "Changed" a total of 50 vehicles, of which 43 were seized and all were confirmed to be "Changed" in expert examinations. It was determined that the criminal organization operated in a hierarchical structure with a command-and-control style, and a total of 72 suspects were involved in 50 separate actions.
OPERATION IN 11 PROVINCES
Upon the instruction of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, simultaneous operations were carried out today in Istanbul, Afyonkarahisar, Ankara, Antalya, Batman, Düzce, Kayseri, Kocaeli, Rize, Şırnak, and Van. In the operation, 40 suspects were captured. It was learned that search and capture efforts are ongoing.
It was determined that 4 suspects involved in the investigation are currently detained or imprisoned in penal institutions, and 5 suspects are at large. Additionally, it was learned that the Istanbul Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has conducted operations against 2 major criminal organizations in the last 2 weeks, and that operations will continue.
