A corruption operation was conducted against the Tepebaşı Municipality in Eskişehir. Within the scope of the operation, detention orders were issued for 60 people, and 20 of them were taken into custody.

A large-scale operation was conducted in the morning hours targeting the Tepebaşı Municipality in Eskişehir. Teams from the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Directorate carried out searches at the municipal building and at the homes of some employees.

20 PEOPLE DETAINED

As part of the operation, it was learned that investigations are ongoing, particularly in the municipality's Social Affairs Directorate. While detention warrants were issued for 60 individuals, it was reported that 20 people have been taken into custody initially.

DETAILED STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

The Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued a written statement regarding the operation. The statement indicated that the investigation is being conducted under charges including "Aggravated Embezzlement by Chain Method, Forgery of Documents, Violation of the Tax Procedure Law, Laundering of Assets Derived from Crime, and Abuse of Office."

It was stated that the investigation was initiated based on tips and complaints, and that MASAK reports, tax audit reports, expert reports, bank records, crypto asset accounts, and accounting records belonging to the municipality are being examined.

ALLEGATION OF "IRREGULARITIES IN TENDERS"

In the Prosecutor's Office statement, it was claimed that irregularities were detected in some tenders at the Tepebaşı Municipality. It was alleged that especially in the procurement of goods and services carried out through the direct procurement method by the Culture, Arts, and Social Affairs Directorate, fake bid letters and fictitious invoices were prepared.

The statement noted that it is believed municipal officials and some company executives have obtained unfair gains through this method, causing public loss.

ASSETS CONFISCATED

It was announced that some assets belonging to the suspects and companies have been confiscated in line with MASAK reports. It was reported that proceedings have been initiated against a total of 60 people, including 33 municipal employees, company officials, and other suspects within the scope of the investigation.

It was noted that simultaneous search and seizure operations are ongoing to apprehend suspects, place them under custody, and collect evidence.

INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

While it was learned that teams from the Eskişehir Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch continue their work as part of the operation, the Prosecutor's Office stated that the investigation is being conducted meticulously.
