CHP leader Özgür Özel recited a German poem at his party's group meeting. He reacted to President Erdoğan's statement that "the slogan of those who rob banks has turned into the slogan of those who rob municipalities" by reading the German version of the phrase "There is no salvation alone; either we all together or none of us." Özel stated, "This sheds a lot of light on Turkey's present."

CHP General Chairman Özgür Özel, in his speech at the party's group meeting, stated, "I would like to conclude my words by recalling a statement that Mr. Erdoğan is very uncomfortable with, which stems from either a bad intention or great ignorance." and recited a German poem.

Özel said, "Contrary to what Mr. Erdoğan thinks, saying 'We will win by uniting' or 'There is no salvation alone, either we all together or none of us' is not about the Ziraat Bank robbery in the 1970s, but rather it is a poem written by Bertolt Brecht to express the problems of the German people who were oppressed and starving under Nazi Germany in the 1940s, to show them the way to salvation. It has been translated into 140 languages worldwide. In Turkey, this poem has been translated into Turkish with the book 'Halkın Ekmeği'. It is well known to all of us with its valuable poems and sheds much light on Turkey's present. This poem, which has been translated into 140 languages and has inspired the fighters, trade unionists, and democrats of the whole world, has been able to turn into ignorance to the extent that it can be called a terrorist's slogan when it comes to Mr. Erdoğan."

ÖZEL RECITED A GERMAN POEM

After his words, Özel recited the poem "Keiner oder alle", removing the photo of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, and said, "Either we all together or none of us."

The poem recited by Özel and its Turkish meaning is as follows:

"Keiner oder alle. Alles oder nichts.

One cannot save themselves there.

Guns or chains.

Keiner oder alle. Alles oder nichts.

Either we all together, or none of us.

No salvation alone.

From the fist and the chain.

Either we all together, or none of us."

WHAT DID ERDOĞAN SAY?

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, at his party's 8th Ordinary Provincial Congress in Manisa, stated, "Look at the irony of fate, the slogan they shouted against the police in front of the courthouse belongs to a leftist terrorist organization that robbed Ziraat Bank in 1971. The slogan of those who robbed the bank has turned into the slogan of those who rob municipalities decades later. You know how they say 'it fits perfectly'. Their situation is exactly like that. The pot has rolled, and it has found its lid. Just like a red card, I sincerely express that these new slogans also suit the CHP very well, and we congratulate Mr. Özel and his entourage. If we were in their place, we would recommend this slogan to them again. As we wish for a good opposition, we find ourselves facing a CHP that leaves you with nothing to hold on to. What can we say? Perhaps this is for the best."
