While a crisis was occurring in CHP, the expression "lan" used by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel towards President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ignited political debates.
ÖZGÜR ÖZEL'S INSULT TO PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN
Özel, targeting individuals who left his party and making harsh statements regarding the mayoralties in Aydın, addressed President Erdoğan by saying, "Dude, you were kicked out in Aydın with kicks and punches on March 31." Özel also referred to the CHP Efeler District Chairman as "dishonest," while drawing attention with his remarks towards Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu.
HAKAN HAN ÖZCAN: "HE HAS ABANDONED POLITICS AND EMBRACED DISRESPECT"
A strong response came from the AK Party front to Özel's outburst. AK Party Ankara Provincial Chairman Hakan Han Özcan used the following statements in his written statement:
"CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has abandoned politics and embraced disrespect. To speak in street language to Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has won victories multiple times with the votes of the people and is a world leader, is not only disrespectful but also immoral. First, make sure you don't lose your seat, which you can't even hold in your own party, let alone in Aydın! Every word that comes out of your mouth reveals your level and caliber. Don't forget; that seat is a trust, and extending your tongue to the leader of the nation is beyond your limits!"
