The leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, made a statement after meeting with Ekrem İmamoğlu and other detainees held in Silivri. Özel commented on the request to cancel the provincial congresses during the CHP's congress process, saying, "With so many issues facing the country, what that unnecessary person did is a ridiculous act. Entering the Marmara Closed Penitentiary Institution in the morning, Özel answered questions from the press after the approximately four-hour meeting.
"THE INDICTMENT IS FALLING APART"
Özel spoke about the "Aziz İhsan Aktaş indictment," claiming that the allegations were prepared for political purposes, stating, "There is nothing secret in the indictment. They found a luxury yacht. Now they say that yacht belongs to the Beşiktaş Mayor. Ahmet Özer has been held for 9 months due to a slander. If he gets a sentence, he will be out in 3 months. The Mayor of Aydın, who has been tried for 6 years for rigging tenders, switched to the AK Party just as the decision was about to be made. This indictment is filled with phrases like 'I heard', 'I think', 'probably'. These people were politically imprisoned because you wanted İmamoğlu not to be a presidential candidate. No matter how much you dig, you won't find anything under us." he said.
"THEY ARE CARRYING OUT A POLITICAL OPERATION"
The CHP leader stated that İmamoğlu's imprisonment is a political move, saying, "You took these friends inside for political reasons. Because you wanted İmamoğlu not to be a presidential candidate. This is a political operation. But we will not take a step back from the struggle." he expressed.

Özgür Özel also spoke about the cancellation petition of Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Lütfü Savaş. Özel stated, "While the country has so many problems, this unnecessary person's actions are ridiculous.
