Former Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım, who was arrested in a hotel with his young girlfriend as part of an ongoing investigation, sought to add another statement under the effective remorse provision. It was learned that Yalım contacted the prosecutor's office to provide an additional statement with new information to CHP leader Özgür Özel.
A new development has occurred regarding former Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım, who was arrested while with his 21-year-old girlfriend in a hotel room as part of an ongoing corruption and bribery investigation against Uşak Municipality.
WILL PROVIDE ADDITIONAL STATEMENT REGARDING ÖZGÜR ÖZEL
Yalım, who previously benefited from effective remorse provisions and gave statements accordingly, is alleged to have contacted the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to provide an additional statement concerning new information related to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.
HAD PREVIOUSLY GIVEN A 5-HOUR STATEMENT
The processing of arrested Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım, whose statement was taken under effective remorse provisions in recent days, lasted 5 hours. After his statement, Yalım was sent back to prison.
"I GAVE ÖZGÜR ÖZEL 1 MILLION 200 THOUSAND TL IN CASH"
Yalım's statement included various allegations regarding the process of the CHP's 38th Ordinary Convention held in 2023. Yalım stated that before the convention, he conducted support work in favor of Özgür Özel by meeting with delegates in many provinces. Claiming to have spoken with approximately 600 to 700 delegates by phone, Yalım said he particularly focused on delegates from Gaziantep and Kahramanmaraş. Yalım also alleged that he gave cash to Özgür Özel during the convention process. Stating that he left 200 thousand TL in a bag on the wall in front of Özgür Özel's house, Yalım reported that he later delivered an additional 1 million TL in Denizli. Using the words, "Özgür Özel told me, 'Arrange as much as you can,'" Yalım claimed that he delivered the money through Demirhan Gözaçan. He noted that his statements would be proven correct upon examination of certain records.
"IF YOU HIRE OUR CHILDREN, WE WILL SUPPORT ÖZGÜR ÖZEL"
Alleging that some delegates said they would support Özgür Özel in return for their children being hired at CHP municipalities, Yalım recounted that resumes of the delegates' children were sent to him via WhatsApp. He claimed that examining the social security records of individuals hired at CHP municipalities before and after the convention would reveal these connections.
"UŞAKSPOR FOOTBALLERS WERE SHOWN AS EMPLOYEES OF THE MUNICIPALITY"
In his statement, Yalım also addressed irregularities conducted through Uşakspor, saying, "10 out of 24 footballers were shown as working in the municipal staff, but they did not actually work." Alleging that the wives of some footballers also received salaries from the municipality, Yalım argued that cash and checks obtained from an amusement park operator were used for hand-to-hand payments to the footballers. Stating that he used part of the money received as donations for personal expenses, Yalım said, "I regret this and want to compensate the public loss."
"I USED MUNICIPAL VEHICLES FOR MY OWN RELOCATION"
Yalım also admitted that municipal vehicles and personnel were used for his personal affairs. Stating that he transported items from his homes in Ankara and İzmir to Uşak using municipal vehicles, Yalım said that official service vehicles were also used for his family's private trips. He expressed his desire to pay for the resulting public loss.
VIP VEHICLE CONVERSION ALLEGATION
Yalım alleged that the cost of converting a Mercedes V300 vehicle used by Özgür Özel into a VIP version was paid by Uşak Municipality. He claimed that this payment was concealed within the conversion invoice of another municipal vehicle. Asserting that the payment, amounting to approximately 170 thousand Euros plus VAT, was made from the municipal account, Yalım argued that CHP officials are hiding the truth about this matter.
STATEMENTS REGARDING EBRU YURTULUĞ
In his statement, Yalım also touched on his relationship with Ebru Yurtuluğ, noting that this relationship was influential in her recruitment at the municipality. Saying they purchased a joint home with the intention of living together, Yalım acknowledged that special handwoven municipal carpets were taken to this house without payment. Regarding the presence of a municipal computer in Ebru Yurtuluğ's home, Yalım stated he did not clearly remember and said he wants to cover the resulting loss.
SUGAR COMMISSION AND HOTEL INCIDENT
In his statement, Özkan Yalım also recounted an incident that he said occurred at a hotel in an eastern province during the work of the commission established by the CHP in 2018 against the privatization of sugar factories. Yalım stated that Veli Ağbaba asked him for whiskey, and after obtaining the whiskey, he went to the room allocated to Veli Ağbaba along with Bursa PM member Gamze Pamuk Ateşli and Muğla PM member Gizem Özcan. He then noted that Veli Ağbaba told him "good evening" and asked him to leave.
