Painter Hamza Saykan announced that he withdrew two oil paintings of Atatürk, which he donated to the CHP headquarters in 2021, criticizing Kılıçdaroğlu's policies.
Painter Hamza Saykan announced that he took back two large oil paintings of Atatürk and a clock, which he had donated to the Republican People's Party (CHP) headquarters in 2021, following developments within the party.
Making a striking statement on his social media account, Saykan criticized Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's management style, saying, "It's no longer time to remain silent."
"I COULD NOT BEAR TO SEE THEM NEXT TO KILIÇDAROĞLU"
Stating that the paintings had previously been used as decor during press conferences and meetings at the CHP headquarters, Hamza Saykan expressed the reason for withdrawing his works with these words:
"I saw that Kemal Bey is on the wrong path. I could no longer bear to see these paintings, which I gave for use in press meetings, on the screen right next to Kılıçdaroğlu. We worked hard for Kemal Bey despite all his mistakes. However, at this point, I did not want to remain silent and took back my paintings by taking a historic stance."
"WILL RETURN WHEN HE REALIZES HIS MISTAKE"
In his statement, Saykan also supported the opposition stance of artists, saying he wholeheartedly supports musicians banning the use of their works by the current administration. Underlining that he never approves of insults directed at Kılıçdaroğlu, the painter did not completely close the door:
"No matter how great Kemal Bey's mistake is, I never approve of insults. Soon, he will realize his mistake, or the public will throw his mistake in his face. Then this painting of mine will return to its rightful place, the CHP headquarters."
