ALLEGATION: "TRUMP STOPPED THE GROUND OPERATION"
Meanwhile, American broadcaster CNN reported that the US military was preparing a ground operation to seize uranium in Iran, but President Donald Trump stopped it. According to CNN's report citing two sources familiar with the matter, US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Dan Caine went to the US Central Command (CENTCOM) headquarters in Florida to review plans for deploying ground forces into Iran to seize enriched uranium.
The sources stated that the meeting was held urgently, causing Caine to quickly return from a NATO meeting in Brussels to the US on May 19, and noted that such high-level meetings indicated how close the ground operation was.
TRUMP CONCERNED ABOUT MILITARY CASUALTIES
The sources reported that Caine later briefed US President Donald Trump on the ground operation plan, and claimed that Trump decided to halt the operation after warnings that it could provoke a fierce Iranian retaliation, prolong the war, and further destabilize the global economy. According to the sources, Trump also expressed concern about heavy US military casualties.
