Due to a storm in the Silivri district of Istanbul, the roof wall of an abandoned building collapsed. Concrete debris fell onto a neighboring single-story house, causing panic, but the person inside narrowly escaped without injury.

The collapse of the roof wall with a loud noise caused panic in the neighborhood. Initially believed to be a natural gas explosion, the incident was determined to have been caused by the storm.

The incident occurred around 2:30 PM on Ziyabey Street in the Piri Mehmet Pasha District. Due to strong wind and storm that suddenly struck the district, the wall on the roof section of a 5-story abandoned building detached with a loud noise.

The detached concrete pieces fell onto the roof of the adjacent one-story house and the shed in the garden. Hearing the noise, nearby residents thought a natural gas explosion had occurred and reported the situation to the teams.

Upon the report, fire brigade, police, health, natural gas teams, and Silivri Municipality Search and Rescue (SAK) teams were dispatched to the area. Teams arriving at the scene took extensive security measures around the area.

In the investigation by fire brigade teams, it was determined that contrary to initial assessments, the incident was not due to a natural gas explosion but to a roof wall collapsing under the effect of the storm.

A person who was alone in the house at the time of the wall collapse survived the incident without injury. It was learned that the distressed citizen was taken to the Silivri District Police Department for a statement.
