The Palestinian Football Federation announced that Salim Al-Ashqar, goalkeeper for Khadamat Khan Younis, lost his life after being shot by Israeli soldiers. Chilean team Club Deportivo Palestino also released a condolence message for the 32-year-old goalkeeper, expressing their sorrow over the incident and calling for justice and peace. It was also learned that Al-Ashqar, who got married just 5 months ago, was preparing to welcome his first child soon.
The Palestinian Football Federation announced that Salim Al-Ashqar, the goalkeeper of Khadamat Khan Younis, lost his life as a result of fire opened by Israeli soldiers.
In a statement from the federation, it was said, "Khadamat Khan Younis goalkeeper Salim Al-Ashqar lost his life due to fire opened by the occupation forces."
Al-Ashqar, who got married only 5 months ago, was preparing to welcome his first child soon.
CONDOLENCE MESSAGE FROM THE CHILEAN TEAM
Club Deportivo Palestino, one of the teams in the Chilean football league, also issued a statement regarding the death of the 32-year-old goalkeeper.
In the club's statement, it was expressed, "We mourn deeply for the tragic death of 32-year-old Palestinian goalkeeper Al-Ashqar. He was killed by the Israeli army. It deeply saddens us that such incidents continue. We demand justice and peace."

According to official reports, the number of members of the Palestinian sports community who have lost their lives in attacks since October 2023 has reached 1,009. Of those who lost their lives, 567 were football players. The sports world expects concrete steps from international institutions in the face of such great losses.
