In the statement, it was noted that the drone later left Dutch airspace and did not pose an urgent threat. It was reported that air traffic in the country was not disrupted.
The ministry expressed that the drone did not disclose its identity to air traffic control via radio or transponder, emphasizing that the fighter jets were on standby for 24 hours and could take off within minutes to intercept unidentified aircraft.
After the incident, two F-35s belonging to the Royal Netherlands Air Force returned to Volkel Air Base.
