POISONING ON A SHIP IN MARMARA
Another case of poisoning has been added to the incidents in Istanbul. This time, the bad news came from a ship. A leak occurred in the cold tank of a ship sailing off the coast of Istanbul in the Sea of Marmara. One crew member lost their life.
STATEMENT FROM THE ISTANBUL GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
In a statement made by the Istanbul Governor's Office regarding the matter, it was stated: "On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at around 17:30, a report was received about poisoning on the Panama-flagged tanker named Swanlake, located 2 miles south of Democracy and Freedoms Island."
ONE CREW MEMBER DEAD, 2 UNDER OBSERVATION
Upon the report, Coast Guard, Marine Police, UMKE, and AFAD KRBN teams were dispatched to the scene. According to initial determinations, it is believed that the incident, which is thought to have originated from a leak in the cold tank of the tanker, resulted in the death of one crew member, while two crew members were poisoned and placed under observation.
Evacuation efforts for the other 10 crew members and the two injured individuals on the ship, which has a total of 13 crew members who are Russian citizens, are ongoing. We respectfully announce this to the public."
