In Konya, a woman who had a piece of bread stuck in her windpipe while eating at a restaurant was saved by plainclothes police officer Musa Akay, who applied the Heimlich maneuver. Akay stated that, as the police force, they are always by the citizens' side.

A police officer named Musa Akay, who rescued a woman whose windpipe was blocked by a piece of bread while she was eating in Konya, using the Heimlich maneuver, said, "As the police force, we are not only against criminals but also by the side of our citizens in need of help in every matter."

CAME FACE TO FACE WITH DEATH

The incident occurred last Monday at a doner kebab shop on Aziziye Street in the Aziziye neighborhood of the central Karatay district. According to the information obtained, a piece of bread from the doner got stuck in the windpipe of a woman eating at the restaurant. Civilian police officer Musa Akay (35), who was at the restaurant at the time and noticed the woman having difficulty breathing, applied the Heimlich maneuver to her.

After the intervention, the piece stuck in the woman's windpipe was removed. The footage shows the woman unable to breathe while eating, and the police officer noticing the situation, intervening, and performing the Heimlich maneuver.

POLICE OFFICER DESCRIBED THE MOMENT

Describing the incident, police officer Musa Akay, who works at the Konya Public Order Department's Robbery and Pickpocketing Bureau, said, "We were conducting camera work at the scene regarding a previous theft incident. When one of our daughters said something happened to my mother, something got stuck in her throat, we went to our citizen's side. When we saw that our citizen couldn't breathe, we tried to help. We had previously taken first aid courses within the police force. We helped our citizen with our knowledge and experience. As the police force, we are not only against criminals but also by the side of our citizens in need of help in every matter."
