The Directorate of Communications' Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) issued a statement regarding claims that forest areas burned in 2021 in the Beyciler neighborhood of Milas district in Muğla were opened for construction. The DMM stated that the claims are 'completely untrue,' noting that the parcels in question are not forest areas and are recorded in official cadastral records as lands registered in the names of individuals.

"PLEASE RELY ON OFFICIAL SOURCES" In a statement made on DMM's social media account, "Claims in some media outlets and social media accounts that forest areas burned in 2021 in the Beyciler neighborhood of the Milas district of Muğla were opened for development are completely false. The parcels indicated in the images and content in question, specifically parcels 15, 16, and 115 in block 101 and parcel 1 in block 102 in Beyciler neighborhood, are not forest areas. According to official cadastral records, these properties are privately owned lands registered in the names of individuals. In the forest areas damaged by the fires that occurred in Milas and Marmaris in 2021, afforestation and rehabilitation efforts have been carried out. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Global Forest Resources Assessment (FRA) data, Turkey ranks 3rd in the world and 1st in Europe among countries with the most afforestation. It is strongly requested not to give credence to disinformation and provocations that attempt to create the perception that 'burned forests were handed over to concrete' based on properties with plot status, without checking land and cadastral status, and to rely on official statements and sources."
