In a police operation in the Aliağa district of İzmir, 18 fighting roosters were seized at a farm identified as hosting an illegal cockfighting organization. A total of 130,000 Turkish lira in administrative fines were imposed on 10 individuals, while legal proceedings were initiated against 4 people.
A raid was conducted on a farm in Aliağa district where illegal cockfighting was taking place. Police teams confiscated 18 fighting roosters and imposed a fine of 130 thousand lira on 10 individuals. Acting on a tip-off, police teams uncovered the cockfighting organization. The farm was sealed, and legal proceedings were initiated against 4 individuals identified as responsible for the organization.
ACTION TAKEN FOLLOWING TIP-OFF
Teams from the Aliağa District Police Department launched an investigation following a tip-off about an illegal cockfighting organization on a farm in the district. As a result of inspections and checks, it was determined that cockfighting was being organized at the said address.
Within the scope of the operation, action was taken against a total of 14 individuals linked to the incident. Legal proceedings were initiated against 4 individuals deemed responsible for the organization under Article 228 of the Turkish Penal Code, while an administrative fine totaling 130 thousand lira was imposed on 10 individuals found to be present at the event as spectators, in accordance with relevant legislation.
FARM SEALED
Following the inspections, the farm was sealed by teams from the Aliağa Municipality Police Department. The 18 roosters seized during the operation were handed over to the Aliağa Municipality Veterinary Affairs Directorate for care and protection procedures.
