In the second wave of the corruption and bribery investigation against the Seferihisar Municipality, 6 people were detained. Among those detained was Özlem Akyılmaz, who is identified as an advisor to CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba. The MASAK report in the investigation file stated that a payment of 500,000 lira, considered to be a bribe, was first sent to Akyılmaz and then to Veli Ağbaba, while the file also includes a total bribery allegation of 6 million lira.

A second wave operation was carried out in the corruption and bribery investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Seferihisar Municipality. Six people, including Deputy Mayor İbrahim Gökhan Pehlivan and Özlem Akyılmaz, who is stated to be an advisor to CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba, were detained. The MASAK report in the investigation file included remarkable money transfer allegations.

NOTABLE DETAIL IN THE SEFERİHİSAR INVESTIGATION

New developments occurred in the corruption and bribery investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Seferihisar Municipality. In the file where some individuals were previously arrested, a second wave operation was carried out this time.

Teams conducting simultaneous operations in two provinces centered in İzmir in the morning hours also searched the municipal office of Seferihisar Deputy Mayor İbrahim Gökhan Pehlivan. A total of 6 people were detained in the operation, and numerous digital materials were seized.

500 THOUSAND LIRA TRANSFER ALLEGATION IN THE MASAK REPORT

In the MASAK report prepared within the scope of the investigation, it was claimed that a payment of 500 thousand lira, considered to be a bribe, was traced to Özlem Akyılmaz, who is stated to be an advisor to CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba.

According to the allegations in the file, it was determined that after the money transfer in question, the 500 thousand lira was sent to Veli Ağbaba. It was learned that the financial transactions are being examined in detail within the scope of the investigation.

It was stated that Özlem Akyılmaz works as an office clerk in the General Secretariat of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and resides in Ankara.

6 MILLION LIRA BRIBERY ALLEGATION

In the investigation file, it was also alleged that findings indicate a total of 6 million lira in bribes were received and given in exchange for irregularities related to construction and zoning procedures.

In the investigation coordinated by the Seferihisar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it is claimed that some individuals linked to the municipality and the private sector were part of the bribery network.

3 PEOPLE WERE ARRESTED IN THE FIRST OPERATION

In the first phase of the investigation, an operation was carried out between May 18-20, 2026. In this context, Seferihisar Jeotermal A.Ş. employee Seda Türkmen was released by the prosecutor's office, while Seferihisar Municipality Purchasing Unit Coordinator Oktay Kalkan, journalist Evrim Ataman, and Council Member Barış Sakcı were arrested.
