President Erdogan announced that a record level of efficiency is expected in agricultural production this year, and declared that farmer supports will be increased in the face of rising input costs due to the Iran crisis. He also stated that 303 projects will be supported under the Local Development Initiative.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that they expect a high yield in agricultural production this year and announced that support amounts will be increased to alleviate the reflection of rising input costs on farmers due to the Iran crisis.
EXPECTATION OF A RECORD IN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made evaluations regarding agriculture and production. Stating that rainfall has been extremely favorable this year, Erdogan said Turkey has reached its highest rainfall level in the last 66 years.
Expressing that the occupancy rate in dams has risen to 81 percent, a 26 percent increase compared to last year, Erdogan noted that due to suitable climate conditions and implemented support programs, a high yield is expected in many products.
Erdogan said, "We may break a historical production record this year."
SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN WHEAT AND BARLEY PRODUCTION
Stating that the grain harvest season has begun in many regions, Erdogan announced that according to current estimates, wheat production will increase by 27 percent and barley production by 50 percent compared to last year.
Noting that wheat yield, which dropped to 276 kilograms per decare last year due to drought, is expected to rise to an average of 400 kilograms per decare this year, Erdogan said yields reaching 700 kilograms per decare could be seen in regions such as Thrace and Cukurova.
TMO WILL PURCHASE ALL PRODUCTS
Reminding that the Turkish Grain Board announced grain purchase prices last week, Erdogan stated that the institution has completed its preparations for the harvest season with a storage capacity of 20 million tons and over 600 purchase centers.
Providing assurance regarding the evaluation of producers' products, Erdogan said, "Not a single gram of our producers' products will be wasted; the Board will purchase all products brought to it."
Erdogan also announced that payments will begin from the 21st day after product delivery.
FARMER SUPPORTS ARE BEING INCREASED
Stating that the wars and conflicts in the region have caused cost increases in production inputs, Erdogan said this situation has negatively affected farmers.
Announcing that they have made a new decision to alleviate the financial burden on farmers, Erdogan said, "We are increasing our farmer support amounts to relieve our farmers whose costs have risen due to the Iran war."
Erdogan also said, "We made a decision to ease the burden on our farmers," explaining that the basic support and planning support amounts have been updated, and support quantities have been increased taking into account the rising input costs after the Iran crisis.
DECISION TO SUPPORT 303 PROJECTS
President Erdogan also made statements regarding regional development investments. Stating that 303 projects will be supported within the scope of the first call of the Local Development Initiative Program launched last year, Erdogan said a total of 185 billion lira of private sector investments will be realized in various sectors from agriculture to tourism, mining to manufacturing industry.
Announcing that 1,156 applications were made for the second call of the program, Erdogan stated that the evaluation process of projects with a total minimum fixed investment amount of 453 billion lira will be completed shortly and the results will be shared with the public.
