President Erdoğan, reacting to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel during an iftar program, stated, "We are facing such a great mental block that the leader of a party that boasts about founding the republic is openly demanding political mandate." Erdoğan also added, "What you are saying is no different from the British Friends Society."

President Erdoğan made a statement regarding CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, saying, "We are facing such a great mental block that the chairman of a party that boasts about establishing the republic is openly demanding political mandate."

President Erdoğan made critical statements at the 9th National Will Iftar program. Speaking about the protests that occurred after Ekrem İmamoğlu's detention and subsequent arrest, Erdoğan reacted to the CHP's boycott campaign.

VERY STRONG REACTION TO THE BOYCOTT CALL

Stating that "we cannot evaluate the events that occurred after the Istanbul-centered corruption and terrorism investigation independently of this photo," Erdoğan said, "We cannot see the irresponsible boycott calls made by the CHP chairman, threatening local and national brands by naming them, as separate from this. They did everything to cover up corruption, hide theft, conceal robbery, and defend fraud. They displayed all kinds of disgrace, from putting marginal leftist organizations forward to hiding behind the youth, to disrespecting our ancestral heritage mosques and insulting our security forces."

Erdoğan also stated, "They have engaged in a very dangerous provocation that has nothing to do with legitimate ways of seeking rights through democracy and law under the pretext of seeking rights. However, thanks to the calm and determined attitude of our police and the prudent stance of our nation, despite being subjected to bullying, the provocative political goal of our youth did not succeed."

"THE CHAIRMAN OF A PARTY IS DEMANDING POLITICAL MANDATE"

Continuing his statements, Erdoğan reacted to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, saying, "They have started to complain about Turkey to foreigners and openly slander Turkey. Throughout my 23 years of serving as prime minister and president, I have met with thousands of political representatives from hundreds of different countries. Among them were many opposition leaders. We have not seen or heard any of them complain about their own country, slander it, or ask us for help against their own country. Recently, we have seen that they have lost control to the extent of begging the West. We are facing such a great mental block that the chairman of a party that boasts about establishing the republic is openly demanding political mandate."

"WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE FROM THE ENGLISH FRIENDS SOCIETY?"

Erdoğan stated: "They say they feel abandoned, meaning they are implying why they did not support those who commit corruption. They do not feel ashamed while complaining about their country to foreigners; they do not even think to ask themselves why they are bringing their party and themselves to this state. When they say the black of the homeland, they get angry at us; when they say mandate, they become furious and attack us. What difference does what you say make from the English Friends Society?"

"NO MATTER WHAT THIS MENTALITY DOES, WE WILL INSIST ON SAYING TURKEY"

Do you not feel any shame in bringing the 100-year-old Republican People's Party to such an urgent situation just to defend corruption? I once again advise Mr. Özel to pull himself together and not to tire himself so much to whitewash corruption. No matter what this mentality does, we will insist on saying Turkey. Of course, we will not turn a blind eye to the disruption of public order during this process. Our security forces will intervene as necessary against anyone who attacks the police covering their faces and who becomes a nuisance to our people in their work."

I want it to be known that even if they fall into the clutches of deceived marginal organizations, we cannot afford to lose a single young person to our enemies of the nation and homeland. We are obliged to find a way to win them over and bring them to the good side, to the ranks of their country and nation. Our civil society organizations, as well as our families, need to support our efforts in this regard."

WHAT DID ÖZGÜR ÖZEL SAY?

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, in statements made to the British BBC Channel after Ekrem İmamoğlu's detention, said, "What is the justification, what is the reason? While all of Europe is reacting, we really do not understand why the British Labour Party, Starmer, does not say anything about this. We feel abandoned. They take the Mayor of Istanbul and put him in prison, and England does not raise its voice. Then how is this friendship, how is this brother party, how can we defend democracy together? How can England, the cradle of democracy, and our brother party, the Labour Party, remain silent about this? We are really very upset," he said.
