In a phone call with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, President Erdoğan emphasized that the process initiated by the intervention in Iran has led to a geopolitical deadlock, and the international community needs to intensify its efforts to end this war.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
According to a statement made by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, regional and global issues, as well as matters concerning NATO, were discussed during the meeting. President Erdoğan noted that the process initiated by the intervention in Iran has led to a geopolitical deadlock, and the international community needs to increase its efforts to end this war.
Erdoğan pointed out that the solidarity shown in this process, with reference to NATO's support for Turkey's air defense, once again demonstrated the Alliance's deterrence.
President Erdoğan expressed that he continues efforts for a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine-Russia war.
EMPHASIS ON NATO ANKARA SUMMIT
During the meeting, Erdoğan, who celebrated NATO's 77th anniversary, expressed his hope that decisions would be made at the NATO Ankara Summit, to be held on July 7-8, 2026, that would make the Alliance more resilient and effective against future challenges.
