President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, regarding the 'corruption' and 'terror' investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) and the detention of Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, stated about the 'street' call made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, "We will not turn a blind eye to those who stir up the streets; the street called by the CHP Chairman is a dead end."
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements at the 'March 21 Nowruz Day Commemoration Program' held at the Haliç Congress Center.
IBB INVESTIGATION
Referring to the 'corruption' and 'terror' investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) and the detention of IBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu, Erdoğan addressed the 'street' call made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, stating, "We will not turn a blind eye to those who stir up the streets; the street called by the CHP Chairman is a dead end."
Erdoğan's statement on the matter is as follows:
"THE STREET CALLED BY THE CHP CHAIRMAN IS A DEAD END"
"On this special day when we observe Ramadan and Nowruz together, we witness an attempt to stir up the streets under the pretext of a corruption operation in Istanbul. I want to emphasize that we will not allow an attack on the peace of our nation just to protect their own interests and benefits, nor will we allow attempts to terrorize and disturb Turkey. We have not consented to the deterioration of the eternal and everlasting brotherhood of this nation. Remember, the street called by the CHP chairman is a dead end. It is irresponsible to point to the street instead of courtrooms to defend theft, robbery, and lawlessness."
"TURKEY IS NOT A COUNTRY FOUND ON THE STREET"
The attitudes that embolden the coup plotters and the problematic rhetoric are rapidly causing the party to lose its status as a legitimate political entity. It is clear that the CHP must distance itself from marginal structures and terrorist organizations. Following the marginal elements, attacking our police, threatening our judges and prosecutors, challenging democracy and national will, and resorting to illegal and undemocratic means will lead nowhere in this country. Turkey is not a country found on the street. Turkey will not be surrendered to street terrorism either.
"EXPLAIN THE BUNDLES OF MONEY TO THE NATION"
Instead of tailing marginal leftist organizations, CHP Chairman Mr. Özel should listen to the voices of those around him who possess reason and conscience. If you can defend all the thefts, corruption, and mafia order that has taken place, come out and explain it to the peace of the nation. If you can stomach it, explain the bundles of money to the nation. If you cannot do these, do not disturb the peace of our citizens by shouting, terrorizing the streets, and provoking the youth. We will not allow a handful of thieves within the CHP to turn their own issues into the nation's issues. We will not say yes to the disruption of public order. Just as we have not surrendered to street terrorism until today, we will not bow to vandalism.
