President's Chief Advisor Mehmet Uçum made evaluations regarding the requests for the commission in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) to listen to Abdullah Öcalan. Uçum stated that he found the objections to the commission listening to Öcalan to be unfounded, saying, "Listening to Öcalan will be a listening activity in the truest sense, and it is clear from the commission's working style that there will be no negotiation."

The National Solidarity Brotherhood and Democracy Commission, established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), continues its work. It is expected that the commission will conclude its duties with a report it will prepare after completing its listening activities.

ANOTHER POSITIVE RESPONSE TO DEM'S REQUEST AFTER MHP

During this process, the DEM Party is requesting the commission to listen to Abdullah Öcalan, who is imprisoned in İmralı Prison, stating that it is a "necessity for a permanent solution." This request, which has also been supported by the MHP, has received a green light from the Presidential Chief Advisor Mehmet Uçum.

"OBJECTIONS ARE UNFOUNDED"

Uçum, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Legal Policies Board, emphasized that the objections to the request for Öcalan's listening are baseless. Sharing the expected roadmap regarding the commission process, Uçum stated the following in a statement made from his X account:

"In the new legislative year of the TBMM, it is seen that alongside its routine agenda consisting of comprehensive legislative and oversight activities that meet the needs of the public and election processes, it will also stand out with extraordinary activities and legislative processes."

"THE COMMISSION HAS PRODUCED A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE"

"It seems that the listening activity of the TBMM National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission, which is ongoing, will be completed soon. The listening activities carried out by the commission so far have been extremely beneficial. They have provided significant contributions in terms of democratic practice. No one should underestimate this activity. The inclusive approach of this delegation, which represents the total will of the TBMM, has produced a fantastic experience in terms of Turkey's democratic experience."

EXPRESSED TWO OBJECTIONS

"The issue of Öcalan being listened to in İmralı is also being discussed. Two main arguments are put forward against this:

The first is the view that it is unacceptable for the delegation representing the TBMM to negotiate with Öcalan. However, the commission did not engage in any exchange of ideas with anyone it called; it only listened. So this is not a negotiation, but a listening activity.

Therefore, listening to Öcalan will also be merely a listening activity.

The second argument is that 'a delegation representing the TBMM cannot go to Öcalan.' This is a misguided approach. Öcalan is in a state-owned penal institution. The visit of TBMM representatives to state institutions cannot be seen as going to anyone's feet."

"ÖCALAN'S ROLE SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED"

"In the transition process, it is essential not to overlook the importance of the decisions made by Öcalan as a founding and fundamental will regarding the dissolution of the terrorist organization and the definitive laying down of arms. After transitioning to a Turkey without terrorism, the potential for Öcalan's influential circles to integrate with democratic politics and contribute to the integration of external elements into society should also be taken into account. The state's policy regarding the transition process considers all of these factors. Otherwise, the state will do what is necessary for survival."

"THE ASSEMBLY WILL SIGN WORKS THAT WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY"

After the listening activity is completed, it is expected that the commission will submit its report on the law of the transition process to a Turkey without terrorism to the Presidency of the TBMM as soon as possible. It is anticipated that the TBMM will initiate and complete legislative activities considering the practical confirmations of the definitive laying down of arms in line with this report. Additionally, the commission is expected to complete its duties by preparing a report that includes a perspective of advanced democracy in accordance with the concept of democracy.

At the end of his statement, Uçum expressed his belief that the TBMM will sign works that will go down in history in this legislative year, stating:

"We firmly believe that the TBMM will play its historical role in the most successful way during this historical period, will facilitate the transition to a Turkey without terrorism, and will subsequently initiate a move for advanced democracy reform."
