It has been reported that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro sent a letter requesting support from Pope Leo XIII regarding the increasing military activities of the United States in the Caribbean.

Venezuela's Foreign Minister Yvan Gil announced on his social media account that the country's Ambassador to the Vatican, Franklin Zeltzer, delivered a letter from President Maduro to Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.

Gil stated, "The letter addressed to Pope Leo XIII by President Nicolas Maduro has been presented. In the letter, a special request for support to strengthen peace in Venezuela is made."

"FULL SUPPORT AND SOLIDARITY" MESSAGE

Meanwhile, Gil mentioned that he spoke on the phone with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, who conveyed Russia's "full support and solidarity" message following the U.S. attack on a ship in the Caribbean.
