A project presentation meeting of the Istanbul Children Foundation was held in Şişli. The projects were explained one by one by the Governor of Istanbul and the President of the Istanbul Children Foundation, Davut Gül.
The Istanbul Children Foundation Project Introduction Meeting was held at a hotel in Şişli. The program was attended by Istanbul Governor and Istanbul Children Foundation President Davut Gül and his wife Gülden Gül, members of parliament, district governors, business people, artists, and many guests. During the program, projects were presented one by one with video screenings projected onto the screen in the hall, while Governor Gül provided information about the contents.
MEANINGFUL MEETING FROM THE ISTANBUL CHILDREN FOUNDATION
Additionally, some students who received scholarships as a result of the Turkey Century Children project were invited to the stage. The children who came to the stage made speeches introducing themselves. Then, Prof. Dr. Nurullah Genç, who was invited to the stage, shared excerpts from his life where he faced difficulties.
Founded on March 4, 1999, under the Istanbul Governorship, the Istanbul Children Foundation implements projects that include many activities, primarily education, for gifted, talented, and disadvantaged children. Under the leadership of Istanbul Governor and Foundation President Davut Gül, the Istanbul Children Foundation creates projects not only to protect children but also to help them realize their potential and become the heroes of their own lives.
"OUR STATE SPENDS NEARLY 10 BILLION A YEAR"
Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, in his speech regarding the foundation's work, stated, "The Istanbul Children Foundation has a history of approximately 25 years. We strive to contribute to our city through social projects. We invited NGOs, philanthropists, and individuals and institutions working on social responsibility projects. We can work with NGOs and philanthropists on 13 projects and other projects. The foundation has three priorities. Firstly, we have projects aimed at gifted children. Secondly, we have projects aimed at specially talented children. Thirdly, we have projects aimed at disadvantaged children. Undoubtedly, the public, especially social services, is doing its part at every level. Social services provide home care payments to 83,000 people only in Istanbul. 50,300 families receive social economic support. In just two categories, our state spends nearly 10 billion a year. We will explain what we can do through short videos," he said.
"THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES 4 MILLION 250 THOUSAND LIRA SCHOLARSHIPS TO 850 STUDENTS EVERY MONTH"
The foundation's projects are as follows: "With the support of philanthropists, the foundation provides a total of 4 million 250 thousand TL in scholarships to 850 students every month. With the monthly scholarship of 5 thousand TL provided through this support, it is aimed for students to focus on their education without being dependent on anyone, and to alleviate the economic burden on families.
"THE BROTHER FAMILY PROJECT AIMS TO PROVIDE 15 LIRA MONTHLY RENT ASSISTANCE"
Within the scope of the 2025 Family Year, the Brother Family Project was launched to bring smiles to orphans and to be a hope for their futures. With the Brother Family Project, it is aimed to provide monthly rent assistance of 15 thousand TL to the families of orphaned children living in rented accommodation and identified as victims among the needy citizens registered in 39 district Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations, with the contributions of philanthropists.
"158 HOMEWORK HOUSES HAVE BEEN OPENED"
The Homework House project was implemented to eliminate the likelihood of children dropping out of school and being led to crime in a metropolitan city like Istanbul, and to keep them away from problems threatening children. With the project carried out in cooperation with the Istanbul Children Foundation and 39 district governorships, 158 homework houses have been opened. The establishment of one homework house costs approximately 300,000 TL, and each new homework house will allow us to reach more children and support them in their educational journeys.
"AIMING TO INTEGRATE HOMELESS CITIZENS WITH SOCIETY"
The "No One Left on the Street" project aims to rehabilitate homeless citizens by providing them with accommodation places with the support of NGOs and volunteers, as well as providing health, education-employment, and psycho-social support to help them reintegrate into society. For homeless citizens with no income, it is aimed to support them with 8 thousand TL in financial aid each month until they establish their own order.
"AIMING TO EXPAND HOSPITAL CLASSROOMS"
With the "We Heal by Learning" project, it is aimed to expand hospital classrooms opened in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Health for students who cannot continue school for more than a month due to health problems or who are receiving treatment in hospitals. The cost of each hospital classroom, which will be named after philanthropists, is determined to be 420 thousand TL, and the cost of establishing playrooms is set at 120 thousand TL.
"PLANNING TO OPEN SPECIAL EDUCATION CLASSROOMS IN 100 SCHOOLS WITH THE BARRIER-FREE CLASSROOMS, HAPPY CHILDREN PROJECT"
With the Barrier-Free Classrooms, Happy Children project, it is aimed to create an inclusive, equitable, and high-quality educational environment by increasing access to education for individuals with special needs throughout Istanbul. In the first phase of the project, it is planned to open special education classrooms in 100 identified schools. The cost of a special education classroom, which will be named after philanthropists, is determined to be 350 thousand TL.
"3 THOUSAND LIRA CASH FOOD SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES IN NEED"
Within the scope of the "Our Family Istanbul" project, food assistance, among other types of in-kind and cash support, is provided to victimized families registered with our social assistance and solidarity foundations during household visits. There are 840 thousand households identified as victims throughout the province by the foundation. With the support to be provided, it is aimed to reach more citizens by providing 3 thousand TL in cash food support and food cards to families in need.
"FIGHTING BEGGING WITH THE CHILDREN'S HOMES PROJECT"
With the Children's Homes project, in coordination with the Istanbul Governorship, a determined fight is being waged against all forms of begging, especially child neglect and abuse. Families of children forced into begging are identified, and families determined to be in need receive guidance services from the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, while financial assistance is provided by the Social Assistance Foundation.
"100 THOUSAND LIRA FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO ESTABLISH THEIR HOMES"
The Marriage Assistance project aims to provide financial support of 100 thousand TL for the purchase of essential household items for young people aged 18-30 who have decided to marry but are facing economic difficulties, receiving social assistance, or are below a certain income level, in order to strengthen the family, which is the foundation of society, and to further reinforce the value attributed to the family, launched in 2025, declared as the Family Year.
"MUSIC CLASS CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIAL PURCHASES HAVE BEEN COMPLETED FOR HUNDREDS OF SCHOOLS"
The "No School Without Instruments" project focuses on meeting the instrument and equipment needs of schools and creating suitable environments for effectively conducting music lessons.
