The Turkish Football Federation announced that there will be no change to the 10+4 foreign player rule to be implemented in the new season of the Süper Lig. Fenerbahçe General Secretary Mahmut Uslu stated that they consider this decision a 'disaster'.
The 10+4 foreign player rule, which will be implemented in the 2026-2027 season of the Süper Lig and has drawn reactions from many clubs, especially Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, was addressed today by the TFF in a statement announcing that no changes will be made to the regulation.
''NO CHANGE IS UNDER CONSIDERATION''
In the statement published on the federation's website regarding the issue, the following expressions were included:
"Regarding the foreign player rule to be implemented in the 2026-2027 season of the Trendyol Süper Lig, which has been widely discussed in the public recently, no change is under consideration in the previously shared principles. Within the scope of the foreign player application we announced to be implemented this season at the beginning of last season, no age criteria are sought for the 10 foreign players that clubs will include in their A team list. If 14 foreign players are registered on the A team lists, at least 4 must be born on or after January 1, 2003."
REACTION FROM FENERBAHÇE: 'A SCANDALOUS DECISION!'
The first reaction to this decision by the TFF came from Fenerbahçe. The yellow-navy club's General Secretary, Mahmut Uslu, stated in his statement to HT Spor, "We consider the federation's decision not to change the number of foreign players a scandal. Will we serve other countries, work for them? Hopefully, they will reconsider and change this decision. We will hold a press conference to explain in detail how wrong this decision is."
