Following the court decision to annul the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP, party members gathered in front of the Tunceli Provincial Directorate to show their support for Özgür Özel.
The 'absolute nullity' (annulment) decision of the Ankara Regional Court of Justice 36th Civil Chamber regarding the 38th Ordinary Convention of the Republican People's Party continues to draw reactions from some party members. In Tunceli, party members and representatives of some parties and unions gathered in front of the CHP Provincial Directorate, expressing their support for Özgür Özel.
"ÖZGÜR ÖZEL HAS BEEN ELECTED WITH A RECORD VOTE 4 TIMES IN A ROW"
In a statement made by Provincial Director Berkay Gündoğan, it was claimed that the court's decision had a political, not legal, purpose, and that the party's will was being defended.
Gündoğan stated, "This decision, which ignores the elected will and aims to create a Turkey without elections and opposition through an unlawful annulment decision given with political motives, poses a great threat to multi-party democratic life. We do not recognize this unlawful decision. CHP is not a party that can be taken over by personal ambitions or small political calculations. CHP is the nation's ancestral home. The wall of our organization, which works devotedly in all corners of Anatolia, is completely closed to external interventions and political calculations behind dark corridors. We do not consider any ground outside our internal party democracy mechanisms and the will of our convention as legitimate. Our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, has been elected and certified as our chairman with a record vote 4 times in a row by the will of our organization and our convention. Apart from that, no person or authority is legitimate for us," he said.
