Remzi Sanver, former rector of Bilgi University arrested in the Can Holding investigation, has been released.
As part of the 'Can Holding' investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, examinations carried out in line with a report prepared by the Fuel Special Teams Branch of the Ministry of Trade's Customs Enforcement General Directorate revealed findings that numerous companies operating within the holding's energy, technology, and durable consumer goods sectors issued fake invoices and obtained illicit gains through tax evasion.
NEW DEVELOPMENT IN THE CAN HOLDING INVESTIGATION
The obtained data determined that the holding's controlled entity, Enerji Petrol Ürünleri A.Ş., and its sub-dealers conducted high-value transactions with no actual movement of goods. Within the scope of the investigation, 11 suspects, including Mehmet Remzi Sanver, Mehmet Kenan Tekdağ, Mehmet Sıddık Kaya, Emin Şahin, Nuh Zafer Metin, Serap Özgür, Abdulselam Yıldız, Tuncay Şahin, Adnan Yıldız, Nurettin Paksoy, and Mustafa Şahin, were arrested by the Criminal Judgeship of Peace on charges of 'Being a member of a criminal organization for profit' and 'Laundering of assets derived from crime'. Meanwhile, 14 suspects, including Şenol Akan, Cengiz Bingöl, Arafat Bingöl, Müslüm Çogaç, Betül Can, Zuhal Can, Akın Makaracı, İsmail Kavak, Hakan Kalkan, Mithat Muharremoğlu, Kıyas Mustafaoğulları, Cesur Salık, Barış Karayel, and Berkan Baycan, were released under judicial control measures such as 'House arrest' and 'Signature requirement'.
