Claims have emerged that Rasim Arı, the İYİ Party mayor of Nevşehir, will switch to the AK Party. Arı denied these claims during a television program he attended and stated that he had not received such an invitation from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

After the news of some CHP mayors switching to the AK Party, claims emerged that Rasim Arı, the İYİ Party mayor of Nevşehir, would also change parties and join the ranks of the AK Party. However, Rasim Arı clearly denied these claims.

"YOU CANNOT MEASURE A UNBORN CHILD'S CLOTHES"

In a television program he attended, Arı stated, "You cannot measure a unborn child's clothes," saying that he did not receive such an invitation from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Arı, who said, "If our President calls me to the Palace, I will go to the meeting," added, "I am someone who knows state etiquette. I have no corruption, I have no financial fear; why should I go to a door and beg to be let in?"

Arı asserted, "I claim that I am the mayor of Nevşehir until someone here says 'Okay'."

Arı used the following expressions in a television program he attended:

Rasim Arı, who was announced as the AK Party's mayoral candidate for Nevşehir on November 24, 2018, was elected mayor with 51.5% of the votes in the March 31, 2019 elections.

Arı, who resigned from his position on January 29, 2021, due to health issues, resigned from the AK Party on January 18, 2022, and joined the İYİ Party with his wife on March 24, 2023. He won the 2024 local elections as the İYİ Party candidate with 52% of the votes according to official results and became the Mayor of Nevşehir.
