The spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naini, stated that after the U.S. targeted two banks in the country, branches of U.S. banks in the region have been targeted, saying, "If the enemy repeats this action, all U.S. bank branches in the region will be legitimate targets for us."
After the U.S. targeted two banks in Iran, a retaliation came from Iran towards U.S. banks.
"ALL U.S.-OWNED BANK BRANCHES IN THE REGION WILL BE LEGITIMATE TARGETS FOR US" Brigadier General Ali Mohammed Naini, spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated, "In response to the enemy's attack on two Iranian banks, the branches of U.S. banks have been targeted. If the enemy repeats this action, all U.S.-owned bank branches in the region will be legitimate targets for us."
Ali Mohammed Naini DRONE ATTACK ON CITIBANK BRANCHES The Lebanon-based television channel Al Mayadeen reported that one of the major U.S. banks, Citibank, was targeted in an attack by unidentified drones on its branches in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Manama, the capital of Bahrain. A source speaking to the channel stated that a fire broke out in the mentioned branches as a result of the attack carried out in the early morning hours.
Citibank, which operates in the UAE, announced that it had decided to temporarily close all its branches except for one due to security reasons following threats that Iran could target financial institutions in the region.
SEPAH BANK TARGETED IN TEHRAN On March 11, the U.S. launched a missile attack on the digital security center of Sepah Bank, which is based in Iran, during attacks on the Iranian capital, Tehran. Following the attack, systems at Sepah Bank and Melli Bank crashed, and online banking services were disabled. In a statement following the attack, the Iranian army said, "The enemy has attacked our financial sovereignty. From this moment on, all economic centers and banks in the region that are U.S. and allied are legitimate targets for us."
