Sudokulen Waterfall in Elazig, which had been dry for 70 years due to drought, has started flowing again after heavy snowfall and recent rains.
The snowfall and recent rains in Elazığ have revived nature. The Sudökülen Waterfall, which had been dry for years due to drought, has formed again with water coming from the Ağyazı and Karayazı streams.
WATERS OF THE STREAMS MEET AT THE WATERFALL
Following the heavy snowfall and rains that affected the region this year, the water level in the Ağyazı and Karayazı streams rose. With the merging of the waters from the two streams, the Sudökülen Waterfall, which had reportedly been dry for about 70 years, began to flow again.
The waterfall, striking with its natural beauty, was filmed both from the air and from the ground.
“WATER IS BEAUTY”
Şevket Ergen, who said his childhood was spent in the region, stated that the revival of the waterfall is gratifying.
Ergen said, “One of our streams comes from Ağyazı and another from Karayazı. They merge at this bridge. Water is beauty. Citizens come here with their children to see it. Seasonally, the water has revived again. Otherwise, this place dries up.”
“WE WOULD LIKE THIS PLACE TO BE OPENED TO TOURISM”
Stating that the rainfall has been quite abundant this year, Ergen said they want the region to be opened to tourism.
Ergen said, “With the increase in rainfall this year, our waters have increased considerably. We would like this place to be opened to tourism, but currently there are housing and zoning issues. Otherwise, we would very much like this place to be opened to tourism. Due to this year's rainfall, our waters and waterfalls have become quite lively.”
