In the Arsin district of Trabzon, on June 21, father Fatih Kurutçu rushed into the waves to save his 14-year-old son Yusuf Eren Kurutçu, whom he saw struggling in the sea. Despite medical intervention, father Kurutçu, who was receiving treatment, could not be saved a day after the incident, and his son Yusuf Eren could not be saved last night either.

A tragic incident occurred in Trabzon on Sunday, June 21, in the Arsin district. While the Kurutçu family was having a picnic on the beach, 14-year-old Yusuf Eren Kurutçu entered the sea to cool off.

FATHER JUMPED INTO THE SEA AFTER HIS SON

At that moment, as Yusuf Eren was caught in a rip current and faced the risk of drowning, his father Fatih Kurutçu, trying to save his son, also jumped into the sea after him.

FATHER WAS CAUGHT BY THE CURRENT, CHILD WAS RESCUED

However, as the father was also caught by the current, traffic police officers who noticed the situation and were passing by immediately entered the sea and pulled both the father and son out of the water.

FATHER DIED ONE DAY LATER

After the police teams' intervention at the scene, the father and son were taken to the hospital and revived through the intensive efforts of medical teams. However, Fatih Kurutçu, who was taken under treatment, passed away a day after the incident at Karadeniz Technical University Farabi Hospital, despite all interventions.

SON ALSO COULD NOT BE SAVED

In the incident, 14-year-old Yusuf Eren Kurutçu, who, like his father, experienced a drowning risk, could not be saved and passed away at the same hospital where he was being treated last evening.

WHAT IS A RIP CURRENT

A rip current is an extremely strong and dangerous water current that flows like a river toward the sea, created by water masses carried to the shore by waves as they return to the sea. It moves rapidly from shallow waters to deeper waters.
