Sadettin Saran gave a statement in the illegal betting investigation.

Businessman Sadettin Saran was summoned for questioning as part of the illegal betting investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Saran, who arrived at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan under police escort, left the courthouse after giving his statement to the Cyber Crimes Investigation Bureau.

STATEMENT FROM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

Meanwhile, allegations that Sadettin Saran was detained caused a significant stir. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that Saran's defense was taken regarding the claim that illegal betting advertisements were made during a match broadcast.

"THERE IS NO DETENTION STATUS"

In the statement made, the allegations of detention were denied, stating, "In an investigation conducted by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the defense of the individual mentioned was taken on 26/12/2024 regarding the claim that illegal betting advertisements were made during a match broadcast via the media group owned by him. There is no detention status. This is announced to the public."

RTÜK HAD IMPOSED A FINE FOR ILLEGAL BETTING

The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) stated that illegal betting advertisements were made through the S Sport and S Sport Plus platforms owned by Saran, and imposed a fine for 'illegal betting advertisements' on Saran's channels.

The institution, which is the broadcaster of the Spanish (La Liga) and Italian (Serie A) leagues, stated that they could not broadcast the illegal betting advertisements on the billboards of their own accord and decided to temporarily suspend the broadcasts of these leagues.

VISIT TO ÖZLEM GÜRSES

Additionally, Saran had visited journalist Özlem Gürses, who was detained and subsequently placed under house arrest, at her home.
