Today, the second hearing of the murder case of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found 19 days after going missing in Diyarbakır, continues from where it left off. After yesterday's 14-hour hearing, Salim Güran's lawyer stated, "If Narin has been subjected to sexual abuse, the prime suspect is directly Nevzat Bahtiyar. No one can understand Nevzat's dark mental world; he may have committed this murder to satisfy his impulses." "NO ONE CAN UNDERSTAND NEVZAT'S DARK MENTAL WORLD"Salim Güran's lawyer Onur Akdağ's statements are as follows: "The forensic report states that no sexual findings were detected. It does not say there are no sexual findings. No one can understand Nevzat's dark mental world; he may have committed this murder both to take revenge and to satisfy his impulses. Unfortunately, his subsequent actions indicate this. If Narin has been subjected to sexual abuse, the prime suspect is directly Nevzat. I am presenting a very detailed article to your committee to understand the inner world of a pedophile. In one part of the article, the following statements are made: A pedophile is an individual who fantasizes about children, is sexually aroused by them, or feels sexual impulses towards them. Pedophiles are seriously disturbed by these sexual impulses, experience interpersonal difficulties due to these impulses, or act on these impulses. Research also shows that individuals with pedophilia often experience feelings such as inferiority, isolation or loneliness, low self-esteem, internal dysphoria, and emotional immaturity. "WE REQUESTED TO ASK THE FORENSIC MEDICINE SPECIALIZATION BOARD"The DNA samples taken from Narin's pink t-shirt, black t-shirt, and children's blanket were compared with the DNA samples from the vehicle used by my client. According to the report presented from the swabs and stains taken from Van Criminal, it was stated that there was a trace amount of mixed DNA belonging to Narin on the left front seat of the vehicle, in the seating area. We requested an additional report to determine what type of DNA this mixed swab found in the vehicle seat cover is—whether it is vomit, saliva, spit, sweat, urine, bile, or bodily fluid... We also requested that it be asked to the Forensic Medicine Specialization Board whether this swab was transferred from Narin while she was alive or from her deceased body, if technically possible. We believe that your committee has concluded that it would not be possible to determine what type of DNA it is due to the trace amount of this swab and has rejected our request.
