Former CHP deputy Cemal Okan Yüksel, in his statement regarding the corruption and bribery discussions that have come to the fore in the party, said "CHP must purify" and called for a cleansing within the party.
Cemal Okan Yüksel, a former deputy of the CHP, made striking statements regarding the corruption and bribery discussions that have recently come to the agenda. Stating that a clear stance against corruption should be taken regardless of party affiliation, Yüksel said that the CHP needs to undergo a purification process within itself.
“A THIEF OR A BRIBER HAS NO PARTY”
Cemal Okan Yüksel, 25th and 26th Term CHP Eskisehir Deputy, stated in a post on his social media account that political identity cannot be a justification for defending wrongdoings.
In his post, Yüksel said, “No distinction is made like he is from that party or this party. A thief is a thief, an immoral person is immoral. Defending immorality just because they are in your ranks makes you a partner to that immorality.”
Stating that he closely follows the debates within the party, Yüksel said, “On behalf of myself, I care much more about and condemn these scandals happening in our neighborhood.”
“THE MORAL UNDERSTANDING OF A PARTY THAT FOUNDED THE STATE CANNOT BE THE SAME”
Emphasizing the history of the CHP in his statement, Yüksel made a striking analogy. Yüksel reacted to the debates within the party by saying, “The moral understanding of a party founded in a law office cannot be the same as the moral understanding of a party that came from the battlefields and founded the state.”
“IT MUST CLEAR THE WEEDS AND PURIFY”
Arguing that the CHP needs to enter a cleansing process within itself, Yüksel said, “The party of foundation and liberation must clear the weeds within it and purify.”
Stating that no one should remain silent in the face of developments, Yüksel said that the path to becoming the government in Turkey goes through clean politics.
At the end of his statement, he said, “Only then can we have the right to call an immoral person immoral, and a thief thief. The path to becoming the government in Turkey is to cleanse and purify. Period.”
