New Zealand actor Sam Neill, who was etched into memories for his role as Dr. Alan Grant in the world-famous Jurassic Park films, has passed away at the age of 78.
Sad news has come from the master actor Sam Neill, known for his roles in Jurassic Park and The Piano.
In a statement shared on social media by Neill's family regarding his passing, it was stated that the artist's death was sudden and unexpected. The statement noted that Neill passed away in Sydney, Australia, surrounded by his loved ones, but no information was shared about the cause of death.

Neill, 78, who brought the character of Dr. Alan Grant to life in the first and third films of the Jurassic Park trilogy, was awarded many honors throughout his film career. Diagnosed with stage 3 angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, in 2022, Neill had recently announced that he had completely beaten the cancer.

The master actor, whose real name is Nigel John Dermot Neill, was born in 1947 in Omagh, Northern Ireland, to an English mother and a New Zealander father serving in the British army. Neill, who emigrated to New Zealand with his family in 1954, worked on local television productions in the early stages of his career.

The successful actor, who made his big breakthrough in his career with the 1977 film "Sleeping Dogs," went on to star in landmark cinematic works such as "My Brilliant Career," "Omen III," "Possession," "Evil Angels," "The Hunt for Red October," and "Ivanhoe." Neill notably won an Oscar for his performance in Jane Campion's Oscar-winning 1993 film "The Piano."
