THE PROGRAM WAS HOSTED BY MESUT YAR During the night held at the Rixos Tersane in Istanbul, awards were given to 72 individuals from the worlds of business, industry, politics, bureaucracy, and media, with the only mayor receiving an award being Mehmet Kasım Gülpınar, the Mayor of Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality. The program was hosted by the renowned news presenter Mesut Yar.
"IT WOULD NOT BE RIGHT TO REJECT THIS AWARD" Receiving his award from INTISAD President Av. Selahattin Par, Mayor Gülpınar stated in his speech, "Actually, I am not an eager politician to receive such awards. Recently, our friends from the Internet Journalists Association reached out and said that we were chosen as the most successful mayor in an online poll. The ceremony was in Kayseri, but I expressed that I could not attend, and that such awards could be abstract and open to interpretation, and that some steps in politics should be taken carefully. Therefore, we handed the award to our Deputy Mayor. However, today’s award is different. Humility may not always be valid here. We have always progressed with humility, but when it comes to diplomacy, and with a valuable institution like INTISAD involved, it would not be right to reject this award. I thank you for this meaningful award," he said.
In his speech, Mayor Gülpınar also did not forget the recent earthquake that occurred in Istanbul, extending his wishes for a speedy recovery, saying, "May God protect us from worse. May He safeguard our country and our hometown from such tragedies."
INTISAD President Av. Selahattin Par stated that as an association, they operate with an understanding of being a burden to the state, not a burden, and said, "We will continue to serve our homeland and our nation."
THE GRAND MEDAL OF HONOR WAS ALSO AWARDED TO GÜLPINAR Another international recognition for Mayor Gülpınar came from the Turkey-Croatia Friendship Association. Gülpınar was honored with the "Grand Medal of Honor for Individual Persons" for the year 2025.
