Valentin Rosier's recent statements regarding his time at Beşiktaş have made headlines. Sergen Yalçın made striking remarks about Rosier, whom he coached at Beşiktaş.
Responding to Rosier's statements that have been in the spotlight on the KAFA Sports YouTube channel, Yalçın said, "Nobody knows Rossier and Ghezzal, let them move on with their business. I didn't know Rosier when he came, they said, 'We got a good right back.' I said, 'If he's good, great, I'll play him. If he's not, he'll leave as he came.' I also watched Ghezzal myself and brought him in; nobody in Turkey knew him. I brought Ghezzal because I liked him. Both of these players needed Beşiktaş when they came. One was the 4th right back of Sporting, he doesn't even participate in training there," he said.
"THEY NEEDED IT, THEY WERE HUNGRY"
Continuing his remarks, Yalçın said, "Ghezzal was also out of the squad at Leicester City. We brought both of them here; they were hungry, they needed it. They fought hard that year, they struggled because they were hungry. After the season ended, I reported not to take either of them. After the season ended, both of these players tried to use Beşiktaş. I rejected both of them, I said, 'Don't take them.' We got what we needed from them, and after that, we wouldn't be able to get anything. We built a team for free that year. We didn't pay anything to Ghezzal; we paid half of his salary, and Rosier was playing for a ridiculous amount like 400 thousand. All the players we brought in were at very low prices. We brought in players who were in need and hungry so that they could be beneficial to us. What we did worked, it happened. It happened, it's over... It won't happen again because they got what they wanted. They started to act like they were offering us this and that money," he expressed.
"ONE OF THE LEADERS WAS ROSIER"
"I rejected both of them. I know what would happen next... I was very clear about Rosier. One of the biggest reasons for the team's turmoil the following year was Rosier. He is one of the number one reasons. I won't go into detail; I don't want to explain too much, but he was at the top of that list. One of the leaders in those matters during the season we performed poorly was Rosier."
WHAT DID ROSIER SAY?
French footballer Valentin Rosier, regarding his time at Beşiktaş, said, "I was a bit reluctant because I didn't know Turkey. I knew Beşiktaş was a big club, but I had no idea about Turkey; I didn't know the league. Beşiktaş was a big club, but I was learning the league. In the end, I signed, but the coach didn't want me. It was the club president who wanted me. Foreign players who transfer to Turkey are usually well-known names, and I was not known. The coach initially didn't want me. He is like Turkey's Zidane. At the end of the second season, Nice wanted me. I wanted to leave. But in the end, the transfer didn't happen. Also, at the end of the first season, Galatasaray wanted me. Galatasaray made a very good offer. Later, I sent a message to the Galatasaray coach (Fatih Terim) and said, 'You are a big club, but I will not leave. I want to stay at Beşiktaş.' I could have earned more at Galatasaray. Then these things happened," he expressed.
