Seventeen male students abused a girl they forcibly took into the school's restroom.

A.B., the only child of a father and mother who are university lecturers, reported to her family that she was subjected to harassment and abuse by male students during her time as a 7th-grade student at a middle school in Çankaya, Ankara, when she was 13 years old in 2023. Shocked by what she heard, her mother P.B. went to the police station in October 2023 and filed a complaint against 17 male students who attended the same school as her daughter. The parents immediately transferred their daughter to another school. A.B., whose psychology was devastated, also began psychiatric treatment. The family also filed a criminal complaint against the school administration and teachers regarding the issue, which everyone at the school was aware of.

"THESE TOUCHES HAPPENED EVERYWHERE IN THE SCHOOL"

According to a report in Hürriyet, A.B., the female student who was questioned as part of the initiated investigation, gave her statement three times at the Child Monitoring Center. In her statements, A.B. summarized, "I came here because of the bullying I experienced at my old school. Almost all the boys in the class are the ones who bullied me." A.B. stated that the individuals she mentioned forced her to kiss them while touching her private areas. A.B. said, "These touches happened everywhere in the school. In the classroom, in the hallway, in the cafeteria, in the bathroom. Those who saw these incidents did not help me," and she named her friends who witnessed the harassment but did not intervene one by one.

"THEY FORCED ME INTO THE BATHROOM"

A.B. stated that the male students she named forced her into the bathroom, touched her, and kissed her, explaining that these touches lasted for seconds. A.B. also mentioned that some of the boys who forced her to touch her made threats. In her statement, A.B. said, "Y., Y., and K. were taking me by the arm and forcing me into the girls' bathroom on the top floor of the school. This incident happened when I was in 7th grade. Now I am at another school. Y. and K. took me out of the classroom and did something to take me away, but I don't remember what they did. There were other students in the bathroom, but after a while, those people left. They forced me into the bathroom. Y. did this to me at least 3 times a day. Y. and K. threatened me with violence and forced me to take off my clothes," explaining how she was sexually abused first by Y. and then by K. on the same day. A.B. also stated that M. forced her into the bathroom and that those who saw it did not intervene, adding that 8 other students did the same thing to her.

"WE WILL KILL YOU, YOUR MOTHER, AND YOUR FATHER"

In her third statement at the Child Monitoring Center, A.B. detailed the incidents, naming a total of 17 male students, some of whom she claimed touched her forcibly and others who abused her. The victim A.B. described her experiences using anatomical drawings of male and female anatomy shown to her under the supervision of a psychologist. At the end of her statement, A.B. said, "I remember all of their coercion. They were threatening me, saying, 'If you don't go out with me, we will kill you, your mother, and your father.' I don't clearly remember who said it. My math teacher S.K. might have seen this incident."

HERE ARE THE REQUESTED PRISON SENTENCES

In the indictment prepared at the end of the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the children who were driven to commit the crime took the victim to the school's bathroom multiple times at different times and abused her there. Additionally, it was stated that the children driven to commit the crime, Y., Y., and K., threatened the victim by saying, "I will wilt your flower, I will send your photo, you cannot escape from me, I will tie you up." At the end of the indictment, it was requested that 17 children driven to commit the crime (DDC) who were 13 years old at the time of the offense be sentenced to up to 7 years in prison for the crime of 'qualified sexual abuse of a child.' For these DDCs, K.Y., Y.A., Y.B., B.K., and K.Ç. (14) were additionally requested to be sentenced to 9 months to 2 years in prison for the crime of 'threat.'

BECAUSE THEY ARE UNDERAGE...

While a sentence of up to 28 years in prison is sought for an adult for the crime of child sexual abuse, the law states that since the male students are under 15 years old, a sentence of more than 7 years cannot be sought against them for this crime. In the preliminary ruling of the Ankara 1st Children's Heavy Criminal Court, it was decided to learn the addresses of the 8 female students whom the victim A.B. claimed to be aware of the incidents, and the hearing was scheduled for tomorrow at 10:00 AM.
