The number of people who applied to the hospital in the morning hours with suspected poisoning, mostly students, has risen to 71 at the Giresun Olympic Swimming Pool and Sports Hall. 71 PEOPLE WITH SUSPECTED POISONINGToday, at the Olympic Swimming Pool and Sports Hall located in the center of Giresun, cases of poisoning with an undetermined cause began to emerge in the morning hours. Students who exited the pool experienced fainting and complaints of nausea. Upon a 112 emergency call, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene, and the pool was evacuated. The number of people sent to the hospital with suspected poisoning from the pool increased from 34 to 71. 65 children were taken to Giresun Women's and Children's Diseases Training and Research Hospital, and 6 adults were taken to Prof. Dr. A. İlhan Özdemir State Hospital for treatment. Ali Temür, the AK Party Giresun Member of Parliament, and Fuat Köse, the Mayor of Giresun, visited the children receiving treatment at Giresun Women's and Children's Diseases Training and Research Hospital and conveyed their "Get well soon" wishes. "OUR JOY IS THAT THERE WAS NO LOSS OF LIFE"Giresun Mayor Fuat Köse, who visited the children and their families after obtaining information from the authorities, stated, "A sad incident occurred in our province this morning, and our children and their parents at the pool were taken to hospitals with suspected poisoning. The encouraging part is that all of them are in good health. Our hope is that after their treatments, our children will be discharged quickly and continue their sports." The children who are still receiving treatment expressed that they experienced fainting and nausea after exiting the pool. On the other hand, authorities stated that carbon monoxide gas, the source of which has not yet been determined, is believed to have caused the poisonings, and it was noted that health, security, fire, and AFAD units are investigating the cause of the incident in a coordinated manner.
