Katherine Jones's plans for the wedding she had dreamed of for 18 months were turned upside down when she was abandoned by her fiancé just one week before the ceremony. Katherine Jones, a British woman living in the Tuscany region of Italy, was abandoned by her fiancé just one week before her wedding, for which she had been preparing for 18 months. The 36-year-old Jones, deeply disappointed, did not cancel the wedding but instead went to Italy with her family and close friends and carried out the planned celebration.
“I WON'T HAVE A WEDDING, BUT I WILL HAVE A PARTY”
Jones, who lives in Liverpool, planned a three-day wedding in Tuscany with her fiancé after a relationship of about 6.5 years. The venue, accommodation, guest flights, and other preparations were all completed months in advance.
However, 7 days before the wedding, her fiancé said he did not want to get married. After overcoming the shock, Jones decided to continue with the planned event rather than canceling the wedding entirely.
WENT TO TUSCANY WITH 30 RELATIVES
While the event was initially planned for about 50 people, after the breakup, only about 30 people, consisting of Jones's family and close friends, attended.
Jones went to the venue prepared for the wedding, wore different white outfits instead of a wedding dress, dined, danced, and continued the planned celebrations with her friends and family. The ceremony itself did not take place, but the other wedding events largely continued.
DIDN'T GO ON HONEYMOON ALONE EITHER
Jones also did not change the route for the honeymoon she had planned with her fiancé. However, this time, instead of her spouse, her mother was with her. As the mother and daughter went to the Amalfi coast, Jones humorously named this trip “Mummymoon.”
