Istanbul Police Department's Child Branch teams initiated a comprehensive investigation after receiving a report that 13-year-old Sevda Yılmaz, who lived in Yeşilkent neighborhood, went missing. After the searches, the missing girl and her 14-year-old friend Medine G.S. were found yesterday evening in Kadıköy, Fikirtepe neighborhood.

FORCIBLY MARRIED FOR 91,000 TL

Sevda Yılmaz, one of the girl children, stated during the interview conducted with the presence of a pedagogue and psychologist that she was subjected to violence by her father Sedat Yılmaz, A.G., and E.Y., and they were forced into theft, and her friend Medine G.S. was forcibly married to her brother Emre Yılmaz in 2023 for 91,000 TL without her consent.

After their statements, Sevda Yılmaz and her friend Medine G.S., who did not want to return home, were taken under protection at the Social Services Directorate, while the fathers of the girls, Sedat Yılmaz and A.G., were taken into custody and transferred to Küçükçekmece Courthouse this morning.

The two fathers, who appeared before the judge, were released under judicial control. It was reported that the search for Sevda Yılmaz's friend Medine G.S. and her forcibly married 16-year-old brother Emre Yılmaz, mother Hanife Tutar, and grandfather Erol Yılmaz is ongoing.
