Striking negligence allegations have emerged in the investigation into the pub fire in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, which killed 27 people. Preliminary investigations suggest that one of the emergency exits was locked to prevent customers from leaving without paying, while other exits were blocked by tables and beer crates. It has been reported that many people who could not escape the flames died in the toilets at the back of the building, and a negligence investigation into the incident continues.

New details have emerged in the investigation into the pub fire in Bangkok that occurred late Saturday night, killing 27 people. Police are focusing on the cause of the incident as well as possible negligence at the establishment.

Authorities stated that after the fire quickly engulfed the entire venue, many people inside could not find a way out.

EXIT DOOR LOCKED TO PREVENT CUSTOMERS FROM LEAVING

According to information provided to Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul during an on-site inspection, one of the doors previously used as an emergency exit at the establishment had been bolted shut, rendering it unusable.

Initial findings suggest that the establishment's owner locked this door to prevent customers from leaving without paying their bills. It was noted that the door had a sign reading "Staff only," and customers were unaware it was an emergency exit.

BEER CRATES AND TABLES BLOCKED EXITS

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt also announced that one of the two emergency exits in the building had beer crates in front of it, while the other had tables.

Authorities assessed that many people were unable to leave the building due to these obstacles during the fire, and reported that the judicial investigation into the incident is ongoing.

MANY BODIES FOUND IN RESTROOMS

According to statements from survivors, customers who saw flames rising from the stage area headed to the back of the building when they could not escape through the front.

Searches by fire crews revealed that many people died in the restrooms. Rescue teams stated that customers fleeing the smoke took refuge in the restrooms when they could not find an exit, but became trapped there due to heavy smoke.

The incident resulted in 27 deaths and 63 injuries. It was announced that 22 of the injured were in serious condition.
