The details of the pesticide tragedy in Çanakkale, where 9-year-old Yusuf Talha Çanlı lost his life and his mother is being treated in intensive care, have come to light. It was determined that the homeowner, Zeynep Beyaz, handed over the keys to the official of the pesticide company, never came to her apartment that day, and did not warn her neighbors. It was also found that the lower neighbor was poisoned by the effects of the pesticide, while the homeowner and the pesticide company owner, who were taken into custody, were arrested and sent to prison.
The horrific incident that shook all of Turkey occurred in an apartment building on Şehit Güral Street in the Barbaros Neighborhood of Çanakkale. According to allegations, homeowner Zeynep Beyaz, who had been struggling with bedbugs for a long time, made an agreement with Özgür Erkan, the owner of the company 'Koruma Mühendislik', to have her apartment sprayed.
Last Monday, Beyaz handed over the keys to Özgür Erkan, who came to the apartment for the spraying, and left the building. It was claimed that the homeowner did not inform any of her neighbors about the spraying.
CHEMICAL GAS LEAKED INTO THE NEXT APARTMENT
Company owner Özgür Erkan and his employee Behiye Ebru Seçilmiş left the building after the spraying, which lasted for hours. However, in the following hours, a full family tragedy occurred when the chemical substances used in the spraying leaked into the next apartment. Mother Sevda Çanlı and the family's only child, 9-year-old Yusuf Talha Çanlı, fainted due to the poisonous gas. When father Uğur Çanlı returned home in the evening, he found his wife and son unconscious and took them to the hospital without wasting time.
THE FAMILY'S ONLY CHILD PASSED AWAY
After initial intervention, the mother and son were transferred to Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Hospital. Little Talha, whose condition worsened, was transported by air ambulance to Istanbul Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital. However, 9-year-old Talha could not be saved despite all the doctors' interventions and passed away.
THE LOWER FLOOR NEIGHBOR WAS ALSO POISONED
While mother Sevda Çanlı's treatment continues in the intensive care unit, Cemile Varlı, the lower floor neighbor living in the same building, also applied to the hospital in the following hours with complaints of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness.
HOMEOWNER AND COMPANY OWNER ARRESTED
Following the tragedy, the Çanakkale Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated a comprehensive investigation. Within the scope of the investigation, homeowner Zeynep Beyaz, company official Özgür Erkan, and workplace employee Behiye Ebru Seçilmiş were taken into custody. In his initial statement to the police, company official Erkan claimed that they had provided all information about the spraying process to the apartment owner and explained the possible risks. After their procedures at the police station, homeowner Zeynep Beyaz and company official Özgür Erkan, who were referred to the court with a request for arrest, were arrested and sent to prison. Workplace employee Behiye Ebru Seçilmiş was released pending trial.
